The Start of Beyond Boundaries

The Start of Beyond Boundaries

Greetings everyone! My name is Eric J Holder and I’m the founder of Beyond Boundaries. First of all, I would like to welcome you to our community. I’m excited that you’ve taken the time to visit our site and see what we are all about.

Background:

Sports have always been a huge part of my life. They taught me incredibly valuable life lessons, got me through some difficult times in my life, showed me the value of hard work, and they provided me with a plethora of skills that I was able to apply in the “real world”. It saddens me deeply that there’s an amazingly high number of high school students who are not able to participate in student athletics due to one or multiple socioeconomic factors. This is the reason Beyond Boundaries was founded. We want to make sure that every high school student has the ability to participate (if desired) and our goal is to help remove some of the boundaries, constraints, and hinderances families are experiencing.

The Journey:

We are taking a drastically different approach to the public visibility of our behind the scenes processes than what most non-profit organizations follow. We are here for YOUR community so we want to make sure YOU know what’s going on. Regular updates will be posted while we are in the development process of our organization as well as after our official launch. If you ever have questions/concerns about the direction we’re heading or the services we’re providing, we HIGHLY encourage you to reach out to us so we can talk. Our updates will include topics such as:

Business growth and development updates

Roadblocks and struggles we experience

Funding Updates

Employee and Volunteer updates

Board meeting updates

…and much more

Some people have asked me if I’m worried about someone else taking our idea(s) and duplicating it in their own company. The short answer is, not at all. In fact, the information we will be providing in these updates could most likely help someone start their own non-profit. The way we look at it is simple. If someone else uses our blueprint to create a non-profit aimed at helping people, it extends our ability to help and serve our communities.

Current Status:

Beyond Boundaries has officially been registered in the state of Ohio. The process of setting up the organization from a legal/tax perspective was rather easy. Once this was completed, the domain www.gobeyondtheboundaries.org was purchased, and we also set up a bank account using the registered tax ID we received. The design of the website is currently underway and, once that is complete, we will begin looking for funding sources. There are several avenues we’re exploring for funding and I’m happy to give you a quick breakdown of what those sources are:

Individual monetary donations:

Corporate donations/sponsorships

Grants

Fundraising Events

Merchandise Sales

Membership Sales

Investments

As we grow and get more into the financial focus, I will post another update doing a little deeper of a dive into the funding sources above.

This update was meant to serve as a “kick off” post to get the creative juices flowing and to let you know where we currently are. Let us know if you’d like to see these updates in video form. I want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to read this. The hope is that this is the start of developing many beautiful relationships with the families we’re looking to serve as well as the generous people who are willing and able to donate their time, money, energy, and resources to help our efforts.

With all of that being said, I want to end by leaving you all with a message: “Never, EVER accept someone telling you that you can’t reach your goals. Aim high, use setbacks as a learning experience, work hard, and be kind to your fellow humans.”
